Tinggi Island (Pulau Tinggi) is a large island in Johor. The island is mostly covered with secondary lowland Dipterocarp rainforest that is rich with rattan, timber and other valuable plants. Its surrounding waters is rich with exotic marine life and beautiful underwater flora. There are three village settlements in the island (about 450 people). The island is also famous among the locals who believe that the spirit of a famous local hero Hang Tuah guards the island. The island is blessed with natural fresh water and sheltered harbour.
